BIG ICE Services was responsible for constructing 29 sonic/diamond drilling rig ice platforms on Lac De Gras to help Ekati mine planners determine how to build the dyke to surround the proposed Jay Pipe open pit in the middle of the lake.  These 29 ice pads were built to a thickness that averaged 60" + in record time allowing the drilling company to have a long safe drilling season on the ice.
